2016 Majestic Road Game Worn Father's Day
#10 Jordy Mercer
Manufacturer: Majestic
Size: 46
Purchased From: Grey Flannel Auctions
Lettered by: The Pittsburgh Pirates
The Story: I have to be honest: I'm not much of a Pirates fan. I was back in the day, but the economics of Major League Baseball and the financial decisions of the Pirates franchise have left me feeling that an emotional investment in the team would be an exercise in futility. With that said, as a jersey collector, this is one fine-looking jersey!
In 2016, Major League Baseball unveiled sets of pink and blue uniforms that would be worn on Mother's Day and Father's Day, respectively. These uniforms would then be auctioned off, with the proceeds supporting the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and The Prostate Cancer Foundation. Nice looking jerseys to support a good cause! Fast forward to late-2017, I wanted to get a baseball jersey that, per my own collecting habits, would be a unique jersey that everyone wasn't wearing to games or around town. When I came across this one in one of Grey Flannel's 2017 Holiday Auction, I figured this would be a good addition. Since it was only worn in one game, there's no real noticeable wear to it, which is a plus for me. And it bears the number 10, which is a number I've worn in various sports for years.
