The Story: As I've mentioned many times on this website, my daughter and I have created a tradition of attending Penguins Training Camp every year. One of her favorite players - and quite possibly, her all-time favorite player - is Pascal Dupuis. At the 2015 Training Camp, after the on-ice festivities finished, we headed outside so that she could get her picture taken with whichever players would be kind enough to spare a few moments with their fans as they leave the facility. Typically, as players leave the gated parking lot, some of them will pull over, then sign autographs and pose for pictures with the fans who line up for the opportunity. Duper was the one player whose autograph she really wanted. So imagine how she felt when, as we walked over to the area where players sign autographs, she saw Duper driving away, having just signed autographs for everyone in attendance. And imagine how I felt knowing that the reason why she missed the opportunity to meet him was because I decided that I needed to grab a cup of coffee before heading to the autograph area!
Fast forward to late-2016, when I found out that Pascal would be signing autographs for fans at the 2017 Pittsburgh Hockey Expo, an annual event at the church located right next to the Consol Energy Center. I plan to attend this event every year, primarily to get a deal on a jersey or two, but Duper's being there made attending a must. Once we got there, we found that Double Deke Hockey, one of the vendors at th show, had Reebok Premier Replica Dupuis jerseys available, but these jerseys included authentic lettering. I'm sure they were someone's overstocks since Dupuis had retired, but for $75, we were able to get my daughter a great-looking replica jersey for her favorite player to autograph. I even got him to sign my own Dupuis jersey as well!
And best of all, Dad's infamous cup of coffee is no longer a topic of conversation in my house!
