1983-84 Laval Voisins Replica
#66 Mario Lemieux with Captain's "C"
Manufacturer: some Chinese sweatshop
Size: XXL
Purchased From: eBay
Lettered by: Manufacturer
The Story: This is one of those jerseys where the story isn't all that interesting. I always look for jerseys that not everyone has. When you go to Consol, or when you went to the Civic Arena, Mario jerseys are/were everywhere. But you don't see many of Mario jerseys from his Junior team, the Laval Voisins. This is where Mario became a household name across Canada, and he was wearing this jersey while the Penguins were tanking every game they could in the 1983-84 season so they could select him first overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.
I have no idea who made this jersey. There are no tags in it. And if I wear it, I need to wear a white shirt under it because it's completely see-through. But for $29.99, I couldn't go wrong. It's not like there are licensed versions of this jersey available - at least not anywhere I could find. The quality of the jersey isn't all that good, but the lettering's not bad. Definitely worth the $30 I paid for it!
