The Story: The Steelers had just won Super Bowl XL and Hines Ward was named the MVP. More importantly than his MVP trophy was the fact that he was part of the heart and soul of this offense. He's a 100% effort, 100% of the time kind of guy. To me, when I'm going to buy a jersey that I'll wear occasionally, the name on the back is as important as the name on the front. I'm not going to wear a jersey bearing the name of some bum who thinks he's bigger than the team (part of the reason why this jersey still has its tags on it). Hines Ward - his future Dancing With The Stars appearance aside - is a prime example of a guy whose jersey I'd be proud to wear.
I had set a goal that I'd get a jersey from each Pittsburgh championship team moving forward, so it was time to get one of these. The internet was full of knockoffs of Steelers Super Bowl jerseys, but after a few weeks, I was able to find this one from a reputable eBay dealer. It was a standard white jersey, but I was able to get an authentic Super Bowl XL patch from The Sports Deli in Greentree, and I had dear old Mum sew it on.
